Arthur Elgort: The Photographer Who Boosts My Creativity

I fell in love with Arthur Elgort’s work as soon as I saw his photography for the first time. I felt like his creative eye was so in line with mine: just look at his shooting with Kate Moss walking down the street in swimsuit back in 1995, and think about my swimwear editorial for l’Officiel Baltics at Como lake with a model catwalking the city in a bikini! I didn’t know anything about it before, but the this similarities in the vibe stunned me.

Я сразу же почувствовала, что его творческий взгляд так близок моему: только посмотрите на его съемку с Кейт Мосс, идущей по улице в купальнике в 1995 году, и вспомните мой эдиториал на Комо для l’Officiel Baltics с моделью, разгуливающей по городу в бикини! I like that his photography is effortless and refined at the same time. It gives you a feeling of nonchalance while everything is perfectly orchestrated in his snaps. Like this picture of Christy Turlington speaking over the phone on the floor in a hotel, wearing an impeccable Chanel dress. I love everything about this image.

In 80s and 90s Arthur was working with the best supermodels of the time. That’s why his shots are so great: he could obtain the coolest posing, the classiness, the perfection of a body, the attitude…. Everything contributed to a creation of a perfect snap. His favourite models were Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Ines de la Fressange, Cindy Crawford. And they gave him the best of their personality and professionalism.

I’m hugely inspired by his spiciness and a hint of provocation. He was not interested in showing nudes, but in creating appetite. His models are not undressed, they invite you to imagine what they are hiding. Like this snap of Evangelista covering her naked body with a wide brimmed hat, or Cindy walking Paris in a dress showing her hips underneath the bows.

Also, Elgort’s sense of humour is amazing. There’s irony, playfulness, unexpected situations, crazy locations, the most inappropriate outfits that work so well in the shots.

Dolce Vita: My Ultra-Italian Fashion Story at Villa Balbiano

Here comes the big news: my fashion cover and editorial for Spice Magazine LIFE has finally arrived! I feel so honoured to publish this fantastic project I was working on as stylist last year. The location, the concept and the team: everything was a perfect match this time. Let it be your inspiration to travel again and dive into Italian dolce vita!

А вот и большая новость: вышла моя обложка и фешн-история для журнала Spice Magazine LIFE! Я так горжусь возможностью наконец-то опубликовать этот фантастический проект, над которым я работала в качестве стилиста в прошлом году. Место, концепция и команда: на этот раз все было просто идеально. Пусть эта съемка станет вашим весенним вдохновением, чтобы снова отправиться в путешествие и погрузиться в итальянскую дольче вита!

For this story we headed up to the famous Lake Como. Our location was historical Villa Balbiano, a part of the chicest Heritage Collection of high class hotels in Italy. We couldn’t dream about a better place for the editorial which was dedicated to celebrity jetset life inspired by Slim Aarons aesthetics.

Для съемки этой истории мы направились на знаменитое озеро Комо. Локацией была историческая Villa Balbiano, которая входит в коллекцию роскошных отелей в Италии – Heritage Collection. A luxury location like this calls for some sophisticated styling! That’s why I had some high voltage glamour on my moodboard. Think stiletto sandals and sculptural minis, lush voluminous party dresses, statement jewellery and a wide-brimmed hat with moviestar sunglasses – yes, even to have a swim in a pool with a cocktail!

Такое роскошное место требует утонченного стайлинга. Вот почему на моем мудборде были гламурные образы в духе кинозвезд на отдыхе в 60-х. Сандалии на шпильке и скульптурные мини, пышные вечерние платья, эффектные украшения и широкополая шляпа с солнцезащитными очками – да, даже чтобы поплавать в бассейне с коктейлем в руке!

Villa Balbiano is an awe-inspiring Italian jewel: this incredible palazzo was built it at the end of 16th century. It’s the largest private residence on the lake with a sumptuous garden, a swimming pool and historic interiors inside that have been filled with finest objets d’art and furniture of past centuries, sourced from Sotheby’s and Christie’s.This was the ‘residence’ of our heroine who’s lounging here with her Russian spellbound kennel dogs in a Versace swimsuit.

Вилла Бальбиано – одна из жемчужин Италии: этот невероятный дворец был построен в конце XVI века. Это самая большая частная резиденция на озере Комо с роскошным садом, бассейном и историческими интерьерами внутри, наполненными лучшими предметами искусства и мебелью прошлых веков, которые хозяева приобрели на аукционах Sotheby’s и Christie’s. Это была «резиденция» нашей героини, которая отдыхает здесь со своими русскими борзыми в купальнике Versace.

How would she arrive for her weekend at the villa? Of course, in a chic vintage luxury car, followed by a dozen of leather suitcases! I loved the idea to style this look with a simple white maxi dress, a summer straw hat and a silk scarf for driving in style.

Rome was one of the most fascinating destinations this summer where I went to work as stylist. Together with Daria Miva we had to shoot a fashion story for l’Officiel Russia in the capital of Italy.

Рим был одним из самых очаровательных мест, куда мне довелось отправиться по работе этим летом. работать стилистом. Вместе с моим неизменным фотографом Дарьей Мивой нам предстояло снять фешн-историю для l’Officiel Russia в столице Италии.

Our idea for this shooting was to show the classic Rome, ancient, chic and full-mighty. Having some Fellini movies on the moodboard, I’ve created timelessly stylish and glamorous looks to fit a movie start for our model Victoria Arteeva.

Идея этой съемки заключалась в том, чтобы показать классический Рим, античный, шикарный и могущественный. Прикрепив на мудборд кадры из фильмов Феллини, я создала для нашей модели Виктории Артеевой стильные и гламурные образы вне времени. Эти наряды достойны кинозвезды!

Of course, the locations for a story like this one should be the cream of the cream. We were blessed to get the permissions to shoot in the most significant historical places: Trevi Fountain, Capitoline Hill and the Colosseum!

Wet Hair Effect, My Favorite Hair Styling Trick So Far

Wet hair is literally everywhere on the runways: this season I’ve seen at Versace, Lanvin, Carolina Herrera and many more. That’s why I always rely on this style getting ready to hit a show or a fashion party.

Versace

Эффект мокрых волос – вне сомнений, самая трендовая прическа сезона: я видела этот прием на показах Versace, Lanvin, Carolina Herrera и не только. Вот почему я всегда делаю ставку на такую укладку, собираясь на фешн-шоу или на модную вечеринку.

It’s an easy way to update your look, and it takes me about 5 minutes to create the desired effect. Be sure to try it this spring, whether you have a short or a long cut: it favours any kind of hair.

Versace

Пожалуй, это самый простой способ сделать образ более трендовым. Кроме того, на создание такой прически у меня уходит не более пяти минут. Обязательно попробуйте эту укладку весной независимо от того, короткие или длинные у вас волосы: мокрый эффект подходит абсолютно любому типу стрижки.

I like to style in the simplest way, brushing the hair backwards, or I can either add some accessories, like small hair clips or a tie. As for some special tricks, I just adore this idea from Lanvin runway – holding the hair back with sunglasses strap.

To create wet hair look, start with a good styling gel: I use Gel fixant Style by a French brand René Furterer. Take a small amount of gel and apply it to clean hair, spreading it around the roots with your fingers. Then brush it back with a simple plain brush to gain the effect that you like. I also fix the hair with invisible hair clips behind the ears. You can try also some pearl-embellished clips which look very trendy.

5 best shows from Milan fashion week ss20 jungle

It has been a while that Milan has its statutory position in fashion world. This spring summer season it has not changed the role, even embrace it. People were as warm as the weather and cappuccino that was the only meal you could afford during busy appointments schedule. Fashion will feed us next season with jungle safari mood and maxi glasses and shoulders on everything. My personal catch were gloves, boots and maxi necklaces. Here my 5 favorite from #SS20 season :

С давних пор у Милана было свое статусное положение в мире моды. В этом весеннем летнем сезоне он не изменил роль, а еще раз ее подтвердил. Люди были так же теплы, как погода и капучино, которое выступало единственной едой, которую можно было себе позволить во время плотного графика встреч. Мода накормит нас в следующем сезоне настроением из джунглей и сафари и макси-очками и плечами практически во всем. Мой личный улов оставили перчатки, ботинки и макси-ожерелья. Fendi

Silvia Venturini Fendi described it as “a solar mood”: that anxiety-free state of sun-kissed, serotonin-boosted, high-summer bliss that the Italians—with their enviably looong August holiday—know exactly how to cultivate. I felt like she wanted to take us to city jungle safari with all of the looks in the show. Combination of the textures and colors was like divine summer melody. Maybe cos after all she said “I want women to feel natural and good in these clothes.” Nobody knows Fendi like a Fendi.

Сильвия Вентурини Фенди охарактеризовала показ как “солнечное настроение”: то состояние без тревоги, в котором присутствуют поцелуи солнца, серотонин, летнее блаженство, которое итальянцы – с их завидными августовскими каникулами – точно знают, как культивировать. Мне показалось, что она хочет отвезти нас в городские джунгли или сафари вместе со всеми образами из шоу. Сочетание текстур и цветов было похоже на божественную летнюю мелодию. Может, потому она сказала “Я хочу, чтобы женщины чувствовали себя естественно и хорошо в этой одежде.” Никто не знает Фенди, как Фенди.

Philosophy by Lorenzo Serafini

Philosophy’s Lorenzo Serafini re-created the silhouette of a belted royal blue jacket with the big, rounded shoulders of the era for his Spring collection. Princess Stephanie of Monaco and her sister, Princess Caroline, made quite an impression on him when he was a young boy in Italy. The ’80s-era photos on Serafini’s mood board looked surprisingly contemporary: jackets were Chanel tweed; these were bisected by marinière stripes for a more low-key vibe. In a flip of that script, Serafini also showed jean jackets all decorated with ribbon and rose that gave to all collection a delicate touch.

Etro

Haute hippie heritage chic is basically the DNA of the house. And they do all the basics of this look well: ruffly, floaty dresses in mini and maxi lengths; intricate Silk Road–like vests and boleros; pirate boots and gladiator sandals festooned with metal butterflies. This season the news was the shirts, tailoring in general (which included an elegant and seasonless three-piece suit in brocade), and the sweaters, which were multi-textural, appliquéd, and fringed. Toss one over a tailored suit for extra warmth on a brisk summer night, and you would always feel chic and original. Now all you need is a ride in a balloon somewhere in Nevada or Coachella.

Теперь все, что вам нужно – это прокатиться на воздушном шаре где-нибудь на фестивале в стиле Коачела.

Gucci

Alessandro Michele is a natural provocateur, but the biggest shocker was how he embraced the sexiness. He has typically preferred quirk to kink, but not today. Riding crops (a reference to S&M and to the house’s equestrian heritage) black vinyl chokers put the finishing touch on scoop-neck leotards and high-slit midi skirts. Tailor labels on the sleeve cuffs and pant hems of those ’70s-by-way-of-’90s suits read Gucci Orgasmique or Gucci Eterotopia. He’s turned attention from surface details to silhouette and convert a generation to a what’s-old-is-new-again brand of elegance.

The tailored coatdress that opened the show was a killer outfit. Interestingly, a particular kind of ’90s sexinesss—heavy on the black and the stilettos—is trending in Milan. With this collection, Donatella confirmed that she has a more vital claim to the era than just about anybody. As for fashion as entertainment, the stakes have just been raised, not without an epic finale of Jenifer Lopes.

Идеально пошитое платье- пальто, которое открыло шоу, было убийственным нарядом. Интересно, что в Милане тренд на особый вид сексинессов 90-х – тяжелые на черном и стилето. С помощью этой коллекции Донателла подтвердила, что у нее есть более жизненно важные претензии к эпохе, чем просто к кому-либо. Что касается моды как развлечения, то ставки только что были повышены, что не обошлось без эпичного финального выхода Дженифер Лопез.

Valentines dressing that turn your mood up

It will not be a surprise for you if i would say that time has it wings, literally it flies… Luckily it leaves some feathers for us and we can play a little dress up. Yay! I was delighted to see their comeback last year on the runway, even though they were always present for me as leopard print.

Это не будет удивлением, если я вам скажу, что у времени есть крылья, оно буквально летит… К нашему счастью оно оставляет немного перьев, и мы можем с ними играть и даже наряжаться . Урра! Я была безумно рада видеть их возвращение на прошлой неделе моды, не учитывая тот факт, что они всегда присутствовали в моем гардеробе как и леопардовый принт.

День В или Валентина был бы прекрасным поводом дать им выход в свет или просто добавить их к вашему гардеробу? К счастью у нас есть огромный список из чего выбрать.
