It doesn’t matter if others believe you can succeed, or that you will succeed. No one can give you the resolution to succeed except yourself. It’s important to stoke those fires regularly, even daily so that you don’t get into the mentality that you can’t succeed or that failure is an option. Remember that we measure success personally, so that your idea of what it means to succeed is different than other people’s. Follow your own path to your own vision of success and stay the course.

This is my latest discovery! I found a similar backpack in a vintage store just to discover that it’s one of the most trendy styles so far! Such nylon backpack can be used as a shopper to carry in your normal day bag, it can we brought to picnics or be used as a beach bag. What can be better than a week in Rome in spring, when the capital is not overwhelmed by tourists? Only a week in Rome with a smartly planned itinerary! This time I prepared a list of less-known sights and hedonist places, gourmet spots and secret markets to enjoy the Eternal city off the beaten track. Here’s the guide of some of my favorite Roman things to see, to experience and to taste for a full immersion into dolce vita.

It’s an incredible piece of ancient Rome in the very centre of the city, but this sight is so little known that I was lucky to have it almost all to myself! The Caracalla Thermal Baths are a monumental ‘spa’ complex of the III century AC built by the famous emperor Caracalla. It had olympic-size swimming pools decorated with columns and statues, open-air gyms, solariums, saunas and frigidariums at an enormous space of 100 000 m2. It was laid with marble and mosaic floors of sophisticated beauty, now partially restored by Bvlgari. The Roman brand has even dedicated a collection of jewelry inspired by some of this mosaics’ motifs recently.

Just a few steps from Terme di Caracalla you will find the Rose garden (Roseto Comunale) in the lower part of the Aventine hill. More than 1100 varieties of roses from all over the world are growing here, and it’s a pure pleasure to come here for a few hours to smell the buds, comparing one rose to another. You can have a picnic here, or you can bring some pencils and paper and spend some time drawing and meditating.

I love gelato, and there’s no better place to taste it in Italy than Rome. All-time classics is Giolitti: it was opened in 1900, and I must say that the quality is still top of the top! It’s from this ice-cream shop that Audrey Hepburn tasted gelato in ‘Roman Holiday’ movie. I suggest trying the ice-cream with the film’s name, and also their cassata, chocolates and ricotta with figs taste really good. My second favorite is a contemporary ice-cream shop called Grezzo. They have only 6 to 8 tastes, but all of them made with healthy raw ingredients. The coconut and almond are heaven!

I fell in love with a small gastronomic bistrot in Trastevere called Mare Nostrum Seafood, specialising in Sicilian cuisine played in a modern way. I tried their pasta with almond crumbs and a mix of vongole and mussels as first course, and a Caponata ‘pie’ with figs and fresh anchovies as the second, as it was the chef’s suggestion. To accompany with biological white wine from Tuscany!

For dinner I highly recommend La Tavernetta 48 with their elegant dishes based on traditional Roman cuisine (like Cacio e Pepe pasta on the bed of chicory mousse), and the fish as a plate of raw seafood looked gorgeous. The service is very attentive, and they know how to advise a good wine for a perfect pairing.

The most romantic place for breakfast close to the Spanish steps is Canova Tadolini, a cafe where sculptors’ atelier was once located. It’s still overloaded with statues, and it’s something incredible to see. I love having their French-style croissants with coffee on the terrace.

I was staying close to Villa Borghese, and it felt like my home park every morning: it’s such a luxury! I had a feeling for this place straight away. Even the form of the park resembles a beautiful heart.

I loved running here, then having a coffee with freshly squeezed juice in the Picnic cafe (they can prepare a picnic for two in a lovely straw bag for you!), and then walking during the day down the alleys to reach some of local well-known museums.

Borghese Gallery is a world best known museum in Rome, and I must say it’s completely worth it. Don’t skip it and make sure to devote at least 2 hours for the visit. I was mesmerised by their collection of antique Roman sculpture (Sleeping Hermaphrodite is breathtaking) and Classicist statues by Canova (Paulina Borghese is the most sensual statue I’ve ever seen). The frescoed ceilings and wooden hand painted doors are a must-see for design lovers.

The National Gallery of Modern Art is also located at Villa Borghese, but it’s a bit less-known than the Galleria. Still, I enjoyed it just so much: they have an impressive collection of Italian and European painters from the XIX-XX century. Today, Dior is the patron of the museum, and they expose some contemporary art here as well.

Which stylist wouldn’t visit a museum of fashion when there’s one in the city? Naturally, I headed to Boncompagni Ludovisi Decorative Art Museum already on my second day in Rome. It’s almost completely unknown to travellers, and I was enjoying the exhibition and the beautiful palazzo once belonging to the namesake family in total solitude.

It hosts a great collection of decorative arts and paintings from the beginning of the XX century, but the most interesting part for me was the fashion section, donated to the museum by art historian Palma Bucarelli in 1996. The collection boast some incredible dresses from 1940-1990s by Dior, Valentino, Capucci and historical Roman clothing ateliers made to order for noble Italian ladies. Not to mention their selection of stylish accessories, hats, fans, shoes and antique jewelry. I was in paradise!

The cherry on the top? This museum boasts to have the most ancient elevator in whole Italy! It looked like a fashionable room with a velvet sofa, and I just couldn’t resist taking a photo there!

Sometimes what we’re working on doesn’t seem like it matters much, especially when we’re doing things for other people when we’d much rather prefer to be doing things for ourselves. But if you put the sort of effort into everything you do as if it all matters, you’ll find that it does make a difference to your life and your mental state in the form of a better feeling. We all want to feel like we’re making a difference, and this quote is a reminder that we are making a difference, it just might not be as big as we’d like, but over time it can get bigger.

I gifted to myself some Roman holidays, and it was even more beautiful than ever: the trees are in bloom, the terraces full of happy people enjoying their aperitivo all day round, the museums almost empty without hordes of tourists. The Eternal city calls for timeless fashion. Elegance is the key: just think about Audrey Hepburn (apart from screening one of her most famous films, she also lived in Rome in late 60s), about Dolce Vita movie, about La Grande Bellezza. I couldn’t resist following this classy vibe, so here are my Roman looks inspired by the classics of cinema.

It’s impossible to bathe in Roma fountains like in Fellini’s movie, but I had my Dolce Vita moment at Villa Borghese, challenging the most romantic dress from my wardrobe. This amazing sky-blue Zimmermann dress with open back seems to be made for this scenery: feminine and so chic, it made me feel like a princess walking down the green alleys of Rome’s most gorgeous park. I wore it with the iconic and timeless Chanel ballet flats and the cutest beaded evening bag from Reserved.

I got inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s habit to wear a luxe silk scarf all the time, and tried my Hermès carré scarf as a top. This stylistic solution can be a perfect idea for the day when paired to more relaxed and casual items. I wore it with plain blue jeans and my new men’s jacket in caramel shade. And the cherry on the top of the cake are these Roger Vivier red velvet mules with rhinestone-embellished heel: these little beauties made my look when visiting Palazzo Barberini!

Vintage items often become my choice when I want to create a classy and elegant outfit. Like this gorgeous silk skirt from 70s, handmade in some Italian atelier for some bourgeois lady. It made me think about Burberry’s collection from a couple of years ago, so I decided to recreate their aesthetics by adding a traditional golden-buttoned blazer from Ralph Lauren , a costume gilet and ballet flats.

Let’s continue the trip to 1970s with me! This time, with a luxe hippie vibe. The key piece of this look is… my mother’s dress tailored for her in that epoch. I can’t get enough of this lovely floral print in bright colours. To balance the palette, I wear this dress with a navy blazer and suede boots from Saint Laurent. I’ve just discovered that the vintage 90s bag looks so cool with everything in my wardrobe. As well as the sunglasses from Vanity Effect that add a right touch of classy, the Roman way!

This time I headed to one of the most beautiful spots in Italy to shoot an editorial as stylist. The location was Villa Astor in Sorrento, a historical villa on the top of the rocks above endless Tyrrhenian Sea. It’s such a luck to be kissed by spring sun – and to try all new transitional season trends the seem to be made for for Italian-loving jetsetters!

This lightweight trench and pants duo from Tod’s is one of my favourite pieces for May. It’s created to fit every occasion and weather changes. The trench is perfect as a cover-up to be stylishly protected from the wind. I loved wearing it over the denim bustier which looked great with high-waisted pants. This look will work well with all flat shoes, but my choice is a pair of sleek flat slides, an absolute must have for summer.

Thinking about young actresses vacationing at Amalfi coast in some 1968, I decided to try a vintage-looking suede mini skirt. Just add a knitted long sleeve polo top to give a retro vibe, and maybe a pair of low-heel pumps. The white ones enhance the tan!

The hues of blue is the main color theme in Sorrento. So why not blend with it to feel yourself in total harmony with the landscape? I adore denim, so it’s my way to wear blue head to toe. The denim bustier work wonders with a pair of classic jeans and my favourite Tod’s denim loafers. To top the look, I chose a masculine striped shirt to add some different texture. Don’t feel limited with the jewellery: golden chains and denim are a match made in heaven.

Some years ago Gucci has launched a line of home decoration objects and furniture designed by Alessandro Michele, and it’s a pure eye candy! Featuring the brand’s iconic motifs, patterns and codes, the line includes trays, cushions, mugs and metal folding tables designed to personalize the home. The capitonné porter’s chair is upholstered in leather or velvet, with a drawer at the bottom—inspired by the high-backed and canopy-covered chairs used in England, and later in 16th–century France. I like the idea of mixing different colors and prints in the most crazy way!

The home brand of Giorgio Armani is the epitome of his signature minimalist luxury blending the past and the contemporary. My favourite pieces from the furniture line so far are those with a subtle retro flair. Like this make up table in a sweet pastel mint shade with a printed textile pouf, or the 1920s ‘Gabrielle’ wardrobe which makes me think about an imaginary Coco Chanel’s apartment.

One of the most well-known Italian design brands which became cult for their eco-plastic versions of classic furniture: lamps, armchairs, tables and stools. The transparent Ghost chairs are so recognisable, yet still a deserved must have for every chic home, hotel or restaurant. I adore the light pastel versions to mix them around a dining table. And for the living room, I would go for the new eco-wood lounge chair in Mid-century modern aesthetics.

For this story we headed up to the famous Lake Como. Our location was historical Villa Balbiano, a part of the chicest Heritage Collection of high class hotels in Italy. We couldn’t dream about a better place for the editorial which was dedicated to celebrity jetset life inspired by Slim Aarons aesthetics.

A luxury location like this calls for some sophisticated styling! That’s why I had some high voltage glamour on my moodboard. Think stiletto sandals and sculptural minis, lush voluminous party dresses, statement jewellery and a wide-brimmed hat with moviestar sunglasses – yes, even to have a swim in a pool with a cocktail!

Villa Balbiano is an awe-inspiring Italian jewel: this incredible palazzo was built it at the end of 16th century. It’s the largest private residence on the lake with a sumptuous garden, a swimming pool and historic interiors inside that have been filled with finest objets d’art and furniture of past centuries, sourced from Sotheby’s and Christie’s.This was the ‘residence’ of our heroine who’s lounging here with her Russian spellbound kennel dogs in a Versace swimsuit.

How would she arrive for her weekend at the villa? Of course, in a chic vintage luxury car, followed by a dozen of leather suitcases! I loved the idea to style this look with a simple white maxi dress, a summer straw hat and a silk scarf for driving in style.
