I traveled to Jordan all alone, and it was probably my best solo trip. It is a very pleasant country with friendly and helpful people. So even if you don’t have company, you won’t be bored here. After a 5-hour flight from Milan, I arrived in Amman, the ideal starting point for trips to the Dead Sea or Petra.

I went from Amman to Monte Nebo, a mountain with the best view of the city. It takes only one hour drive to Dead Sea from the Monte Nebo. The temperature there was 23 degrees, nearly 15 degrees higher than in Amman. Perfect situation for tanning! The resorts are very commercial, but it’s still a cool place to stay and recharge your inner batteries. I stopped for lunch at the Crown Plaza Hotel before continuing the journey.

От Аммана я отправилась на Monte Nebo — гору с самым лучшим видом на город. И всего лишь в часе езды мы уже были у Мертвого моря. Температура там была 23 градуса, что практически на 15 градусов выше, чем в Аммане. Хоть бери и загорай! Курорты там очень коммерческие, но все-равно это классное место для отдыха и зарядки внутренних батарейек. Там я долго не задерживалась: остановилась на ланч в отеле Crown Plaza и отправилась дальше в путь.

I was on a tour that included a night in Petra, a night in Wadi Rum, and a visit to the Dead Sea. All transfers and accommodations are included. This excursion costs €250. However, remember that the low season in Jordan is during winter and the high starts from end of April.

Petra is an archaeological site in the desert in the southwestern part of the country. A city founded in 300 BC.e., famous for its tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone rocks. It’s difficult to imagine how palaces could have been built in this colorful stone desert. This is a must-see location.
Petra is included in the Jordan Pass, without it you will pay €70 per adult. By the way, this is probably the most expensive attraction ticket I’ve ever purchased.

Wadi Rum, the next destination, is a 2-hour drive from Petra. This desert has stolen my heart. I went there for the sunset, and it was the best sunset I’d ever seen. I believe that this is a place for soul healing.
The Bedouins are very friendly and constantly offer you tea and delicious local food. Stars, Sunrises and sunsets, gatherings around a fire with tea, and hiking are the coolest parts of a Jordan vacation.

It is important to note that virtually all tent hotels in these areas lack heating, electricity, and other amenities. The conditions are similar to going on a hike. Showering will be difficult if you are sensitive to cold. You will have to sleep in your clothes because its very cold during winter season. There is also no place to charge the phone, no connection, and no Internet. However, this is also an excellent opportunity for a digital detox.

Важно отметить, что в основном все отели-палатки на этих локациях без отопления, электричества и других удобств. Условия такие, будто вы идете в поход. Если вы чувствительны к холоду, принять душ будет проблематично. Так как нет отопления спать придется в одежде. Также там негде зарядить телефон, нет связи и Интернета. Но это также отличная возможность для диджитал детокса.

I recommend you to bring more sporty outfits. The season there runs from April to May. If you are going at a different time, I recommend you to wear thermal underwear and sportswear. Choose comfortable shoes and warm clothing for your trip to Petra. It appears that the desert will be warm, but it is not. I dressed up in a biker jacket and leopard boots, which surprised the locals.

Из одежды советую брать более спортивные наряды. Там сезон начинается с апреля и до мая месяца. Если вы едете в другое время, советую носить там термобелье и спортивную одежду. Для поездки на Петру обязательно выберите удобную обувь и теплую одежду. Кажется, что в пустыне будет тепло, но это не так. Ибо я поехала в байкерской куртке и леопардовых ботинках, чем немало удивила местных жителей.

I returned to Amman for one night at the end of the trip, and went to the citadel and indulged in gastro-tourism. I had the most delicious hummus at Hashem Restaurant Downtown — a true work of art. And in Habbibah , I discovered an incredible Knafeh that is distinct from Turkish and Lebanese ones. This dessert only costs €2. And in Amman, I tried a refreshing drink, sahlab, made from milk. So there is a lot of interesting things here for gourmands.

В конце поездки я вернулась в Оман на одну ночь, где посетила цитадель и занялась гастротуризмом. В Hashem Restaurant Down Town я попробовала самый вкусный хумуc — настоящее произведение искусства. А в Habbibah нашла нереальный Knafeh, который отличается от турецкого и ливанского. Стоит этот десерт всего €2. А еще в Аммане я попробовала классный напиток, который делают на основе молока сахлаб (sahlab). Так что и для гурманов тут найдется много интересного.
