Cote d’Azur 2022: Best Places to Travel with a Friend

Luxurious yachts, rivers of champagne, the azure sea and the beauties were sung by Fitzgerald — it is impossible not to fall in love with Cote d’Azur. That’s where I went!

You can get to the Cote d’Azur from Paris by car or by TGV train. High-speed trains run regularly and pass almost all major cities. The train from Paris to Marseille takes 3.5 hours, to Nice — just over 5 hours.

Доехать на Лазурный Берег из Парижа можно на своем авто или на поезде TGV. Скоростные составы ходят регулярно и проезжают почти все крупные города. Поезд из Парижа в Марсель идет 3,5 часа, в Ниццу — чуть больше 5 часов.

First of all, I went to Monte Carlo, Monaco. For lunch, my friend and I went to the Brasserie du Cafe de Paris Monte-Carlo, from the terrace of which there is a beautiful view of the main square of the city. A tourist cafe with a 150-year history is a kind of visiting card of Monaco.

Первым делом я отправилась в Монте-Карло, Монако. Пообедать мы с подругой зашли в Brasserie du Cafe de Paris Monte-Carlo, с террасы которого открывается прекрасный вид на главную площадь города. Туристическое кафе со 150-летней историей является своего рода визитной карточкой Монако.

If you like parties, be sure to check out Buddha-Bar — this is a party place, but with very decent Japanese and Asian cuisine. It’s noisy, crowded and fun. If you don’t want to spoil your vacation with a long wait, I recommend booking a table in advance. You can also visit the Twiga club for a memorable party.

Если вы любите вечеринки, обязательно загляните в Buddha-Bar — это тусовочное место, но с весьма приличной японской и азиатской кухней. Здесь шумно, многолюдно и весело. Если не хотите испортить отдых долгим ожиданием, рекомендую бронировать столик заранее. Также для запоминающейся вечеринки можно посетить клуб Twiga.

After the party, I recommend to spend the day in the small coastal town of Cap d’Ail — it is five minutes from Monaco by train. I advise everyone to take the train, because parking there is very difficult. Here we rested on Plage Mala, after which we returned back to Monaco.

После шумной вечеринки самое время провести день в маленьком прибрежном городке Кап-д’Ай — он находится в пяти минутах езды от Монако на поезде. Всем советую брать поезд, потому что с парковкой там очень сложно. Здесь мы отдыхали на Plage Mala, после чего вернулись назад в Монако.

In Monaco, I visited two very impressive cultural events — an exhibition of works by Helmut Newton and an exhibition of L’Exhibitionniste Christian Louboutin. The masterpieces of two incredibly talented artists from the world of photography and fashion are very inspiring. After viewing Newton’s work, I had a dream: to do everything so that someday my photographs would also be honoured to be exhibited to the large audience.

В Монако я посетила два очень впечатливших меня культурных мероприятия — выставку работ Хельмута Ньютона и выставку L’Exhibitionniste Christian Louboutin. Шедевры двух невероятно талантливых художников из мира фотографии и моды очень вдохновляют. После просмотра работ Ньютона у меня и вовсе появилась мечта: сделать все, чтобы когда-то мои фотографии тоже удостоились чести быть выставленными на широкую публику.

The next point on the map is the resort of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Among the local beaches, I advise you to give preference to Plage de Passable — this is a wonderful beach in the west of the peninsula, which offers amazing views of the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer. And the location of the beach allows you to sunbathe in the sun almost all day! The only problem you may have here is the difficulty of parking a car during the season.

Следующая точка на карте — курорт Сен-Жан-Кап-Ферра. Среди местных пляжей советую отдать предпочтение Plage de Passable — это чудесный пляж на западе полуострова, откуда открывается изумительный вид на залив Вильфранш-сюр-Мер. А местоположение пляжа позволяет загорать на солнце практически целый день! Единственная проблема, которая может возникнуть у вас здесь — сложности с парковкой машины в сезон.

There is also a scenic road that connects the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat with the Plage de Passable. Walking along this road takes about an hour. For joggers, there is no better location for doing sport!

Здесь также есть живописная дорога, которая соединяет Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat с Plage de Passable. Прогулка по этой дороге занимает где-то час. Для любителей бега лучше локации для пробежки не найти!

The next day we went to the Anao Plage Beaulieu beach, which is located between Nice and Monaco — in the commune of Beaulieu-sur-Mer. On the territory there is a restaurant with chic lobster tagliatelle, veal tartare and delicious lemon pie. The service here is excellent — the owner of the establishment personally monitors the order, so everything here is at the highest level.

На другой день мы отправились на пляж Anao Plage Beaulieu, который расположен между Ниццей и Монако — в коммуне Болье-сюр-Мер. На территории расположен ресторан с шикарным тальятелле с лобстера, телячий тартар и вкуснейший лимонный пирог. Сервис здесь отличный — сам хозяин заведения лично следит за порядком, так что все здесь на высшем уровне.

And once in Nice, we could not pass by the La Petite Maison restaurant. I advise you to order shrimp and local cheese here. Also delicious are tuna carpaccio, artichoke salad, lobster pasta and beef tenderloin with foie gras. Even though I don’t usually wear heels on vacation, this evening I wanted to come here in the new Bottega Veneta. Why not — in Nice every day is a holiday!

И уже оказавшись в Ницце мы не смогли пройти мимо ресторана La Petite Maison. Советую заказывать здесь креветки и местный сыр. Очень вкусные также карпачо из тунца, салат из артишока, паста с омаром и вырезка говядины с фуа-гра. Хоть я обычно не ношу каблуки на отдыхе, в этот вечер мне захотелось прийти сюда в новых Bottega Veneta. Почему бы и нет — в Ницце каждый день праздник!

My Summer in Ventimiglia: Le Plage, Le Paysage and Le Relax

For my summer holidays this year I decided to go to Ventimiglia. I chose this lovely coastal city by chance, and I found myself in one of the most beautiful, charming and secret places in Liguria. And it’s a strategic location: positioned just at the border between Italy and France, it’s the best starting point to travel down the seaside back and forth between the two countries. And it’s so easy to come here from Milan. I feel so fortunate and grateful to be here!

В этом году я решила провести летние каникулы в Вентимильи. Я выбрала этот волшебный прибрежный город совершенно случайно, и оказалась в одном из самых красивых, очаровательных и секретных мест Лигурии. И это стратегическая локация: город расположен прямо на границе между Италией и Францией, и это лучшая отправная точка для путешествий вдоль побережья между двумя странами. Кроме того, из Милана сюда добраться очень легко. Настоящая удача!

In Ventimiglia I met Saverio Chiappalone, the talented local fashion photographer who captured all my looks and the special moments for this article. He also showed me the most beautiful places in town, sharing his addresses to enjoy Ventimiglia’s summer life. As Balzi Rossi, one of the most gorgeous and secluded beaches I’ve visited during my trip.

The sea in Ventimiglia is beyond expectations: warm, azure, transparent – it’s the Mediterranean in full force. My favorite every day plage close to my house was the Calandre, a long sandy strap of cleanest beach which is never overcrowded. Often I had a feeling of having it all to myself! It’s surrounded by beautiful green hills perfumed with pine trees and flowers.

Море в Вентимильи превосходит все ожидания: теплое, лазурное, прозрачное – это Средиземное море в полной мере. Моим любимым повседневным пляжем рядом с моим домом был Каландре, длинная песчаная полоса самого чистого пляжа, который никогда не бывает переполненным. Часто мне казалось, что все это принадлежит самому себе! Он окружен красивыми зелеными холмами, благоухающими соснами и цветами.

The Hanbury botanical gardens blew my mind away. It’s such a beautiful place to come to relax breathing the citrus-perfumed air (they have a huge citrus trees collection here!). I wore my favourite vintage skirt for the visit: its orange hues were a perfect match for the fruits, flowers and ancient mosaics.

Я осталась в восторге от Ботанического сада Ханбери. Это такое красивое место, чтобы расслабиться, вдыхая ароматный воздух цитрусовых (у них здесь огромная коллекция цитрусовых деревьев!). На прогулку по цитрусовым рощам я надела мою любимую винтажную юбку: ее оранжевые оттенки идеально подходили к фруктам, цветам и мозаикам.

There’s something interesting to try during the visit to Hanbury: the botanical garden organises a watercolor painting lessons for everyone. Watch the tutorials for mastering your skills in drawing a perfect cypress, olive tree or lemon fruit while observing the ‘models’ closely.

Во время визита в Хэнбери есть чем заняться кроме прогулки: ботанический сад организовывает уроки акварельной живописи для всех желающих. Просмотрите тьюториал, чтобы овладеть навыками рисования идеального кипариса, оливкового дерева или лимона, внимательно наблюдая за «моделями» на пленере.

Villa Hanbury was a private property which belonged to Sir Thomas Hanbury who purchased the building of Palazzo Orengo in 1867 and established his own estate, starting to build a botanical garden. With years passing, it contained more than 5 800 species of plants! Now his brainchild belongs to people.

I fell in love with Ventimiglia’s food: it’s light, simple, sea-flavoured and with a twist. Like in this beautiful plate with lobster, mozzarella, vegetables and wild sea asparagus, or in this raw seafood starter with tartars, carpaccios and oysters delights.

Я влюбилась в еду Вентимильи: она легкая, простая, с морским вкусом и изюминкой. Как в этом красивом блюде с лобстером, моцареллой, овощами и дикой морской спаржей, или в тарелке из сырых морепродуктов с тартарами, карпаччо и изысканными устрицами.

And this little restaurant in the port is owned by a wonderful aesthete and gourmand. U fountain has a really great selection of wines an an unbeatable sunset.

А этот ресторанчик в порту принадлежит замечательному эстету и гурману. В U fountain действительно большой выбор отличных вин и прекрасный закат.

At the Calandre beach there’s a lovely restaurant which organises brunches every weekend (make sure to book!)

На пляже Каландр есть прекрасный ресторан, который каждые выходные устраивает бранчи (обязательно бронируйте!)

One of my favourite restaurants in the city is located in Cala del Forte, the newest touristic port inaugurated by the Royal family of Monaco. It’s called Marixx: just look at the presentation of the ravioli to understand why I loved this foodie place.

Один из моих любимых ресторанов в городе расположен в Кала-дель-Форте, новейшем туристическом порту, открытом королевской семьей Монако. Он называется Marixx: просто посмотрите на презентацию равиоли, чтобы понять, почему мне понравилось это гурманское заведение.

Will I come back to Ventimiglia again? I would love o return every year at least for a weekend!

Santa Claus Wonderland

Everyone knows Santa Claus comes from Finland, but there’s more to a traditional Finnish Christmas than Saint Nick and the presents he brings. If you want to spend this holiday on the motherland of Christmas father with his deer here are some things for you to know.

During the festive season, Finns like to take things slow and enjoy the company of loved ones. The natural atmosphere is a key element for a true Finnish Christmas. The family home is often preferred, but occasionally some jazz up renting a villa or a cottage in the countryside.

At the end of the night, a Christmas sauna relaxes both body and soul. You can’t skip this tradition at all, as they say you didn’t go to sauna – have never been in Finland. While planning a visit to Santa write your letter before you travel to Lapland will save you the worry of running out of time while you’re there. Enjoy

Все знают, что Дед Мороз родом из Финляндии, но есть намного больше вещей о традиционном финском Рождестве, чем Святой Николай и подарки, которые он приносит. Если вы хотите провести этот праздник на родине рождественского отца со своими оленями тогда вам нужно знать эти несколько вещей. В праздничный сезон финны любят спокойный ритм в котором они наслаждаются компанией близких.

Природа – ключевой элемент для настоящего финского Рождества. Часто предпочтение отдается семейному дому, но иногда фины арендуют виллу или коттедж в сельсткой местности. В конце ночи рождественская сауна расслабляет и тело, и душу: эту традицию пропускать вообще никак нельзя! Как говорят, не пошел в сауну – в Финляндии не побывал. Планируя визит к Санте, напишите ему письмо перед поездкой в Лапландию. Это избавит вас от спешки на месте. Enjoy!
