When you find yourself speaking to the world as Mr. Churchill did, you must find a way to make your words heard by all. He had a knack for saying things in the plainest language. There are very few Churchill quotes that have any new vocabulary words. He’s not going to have a word of the day calendar, though I’m sure his lexicon was quite profound.
Instead of viewing a failure as a dead end, why not take it a little more lightheartedly with this quote and realize that the goal is not avoiding failure, but instead using it to make your eventual success that much more delicious. So many people try to make it so they don’t fail, so much so that they never succeed. But every great success has surely been more sweet thanks to the difficulties overcome on the road there. Would success even exist if there were no opposite?
When you reach the point where you think you have hit a wall, just push right on through it. The only road blocks are in your mind. Whether you are pushing yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, you can always get through that next obstacle with a bit more grit.
Though it is true that not every idea needs to come to fruition, many ideas can be used as fuel to get yourself up and going. Don’t let so many wonderful ideas come through your head and fade into forever; trust yourself and your abilities, and get busy creating your life the way you want it.
Start today by doing the things that must be done. Maybe you are trying to launch a business, or maybe you’re just trying to get organised. Either way, the first steps are the first steps. Take this opportunity to lay the groundwork. Then, you can stretch yourself. Before you know it, you’ll be doing things that you never thought possible.
How can you know what your limits are if you’ve never pushed them? This quote is good not only for encouraging you to find your own limitations, if you have any, but also for testing the limits of what is possible out in the world. Sitting by and thinking you have limits without actually finding out if you do or not is akin to the story of how an elephant won’t try to break the simple rope that ties him down because as a baby they chained him up with a heavy chain. How many limits do you put on yourself that aren’t even real?
If you want to get better at anything, you have to accept change. Change is a natural and beautiful process that leads to growth both internally and externally. Without that change, you would become stagnant and stale. Stop holding on to the status quo, that’s not achieving anything.
It does not matter how expensive or luxurious your possessions are if you have done nothing to earn them. Having great things means nothing if you haven’t earned them. The feeling of working hard andearning something will always trump the feeling of being handed something.
If you listen closely to groups of people talk, you may hear many of them all complaining together. Misery does love company, right? Complaining is small thinking, but being positive is grand. Offer some kind of positive outlook on the topic, or offer a solution and see how that makes you feel.
Life is a journey, but let’s not get lost in travel. Instead, you must focus on what is within you. The journey of life will change you and unlock what is inside of you. As you evolve during the journey, you have to be sure that all of the changes you are making are positive. Don’t allow missteps in the journey be permanent.
