Mediocre people are not often enthusiastic about much at all. They might do a good job but do it in such an apathetic a way that it leaves one feeling like something is missing. If you want to be really accomplished in life, apply some enthusiasm to everything that you do. Not only is enthusiasm infectious, it’s extremely productive.
Getting started is the trick. Once you make the first decision, the next decision is a little bit easier. Every choice you make simply makes your destiny clearer to your mind’s eye. You must take each decision with the end in mind.
When things happen “to” you, you feel helpless and victimized. However, if you look at things as happening “for” you, then you take some of your power back. This allows you to look at the lessons and blessings (a.k.a. silver linings) within anything you might experience.
Sometimes no isn’t the answer you want to hear, but there’s a reason for it. Can you imagine being the person that said no to Einstein? Surely they regretted that decision later. The thing is that if you have someone telling you know it could be a sign that you should just do it yourself. Or it could mean that you need to ask someone else. Don’t put a lot of stock in any one person saying yes, just never give up if it’s truly important to you.
There are many uncertainties in life, just like a swimming pool where you cannot see the bottom. We often dive into life with the uncertainty to diving into a pool. We are confident going in but we really have no idea what the outcome will be.
Oprah is an oddly polarizing figure. She’s been loved and hated for her successes. She credits all of her success to positivity. When she speaks of her success, she rarely talks about hard work and determination. Rather she focuses on having the right thoughts and the right approach to life and work and values.
Existing is what everybody does. Living, now that is truly rare. People who wake up every day feeling blessed with another day to be alive are the ones that are truly living on this earth.
Sir Isaac Newton practically started the Age of Enlightenment. Most people just saw an apple fall. Newton observed the apple falling. That simple shift in thinking made our entire world change. It even changed the way we see this world and the universe that surrounds us.
Here’s a great yardstick for life, not the number of years that we rack up but the number of times we have those moments of awe that make life worth living. Be sure that as you’re living your life you are searching out moments that will take your breath away, because that’s what we’re here for, to experience joy and awe and all of the good things that life has to offer. If you don’t lose sight of this, you’ll have an amazing life experience and you’ll keep that inner youth all the days of your life.
The life that you live is not determined by outside sources. The life that you live is determined by what you make of it. Everybody is faced with challenges they have to overcome. Some people complain about them, some people overcome them and use them to get stronger and better.
