Numerous people say that Mario Testino can detect others dreams. He is one of the best-known and popular photographers around the world. His speciality consists in his ability to transfer inner world and style of his models not as he sees them, but as models see and feel themselves. This feature brought to the master unprecedented popularity and commercial success.
His father was working in oil business and quite often took his little son with himself in business trips to New York as translator. In these business trips, Mario began to show interest in fashion, sometimes striking fellow citizen with fashionable things from big apple.
According to Testino, the father pushed him to work as photographer, bute gave to Mario freedom in choosing profession. He studied economy, the international relations, law — but all resulted extremely boring.
At last the young man went to London and began to work as the assistant for the theatrical photographer. As a result Testino rented a small room for 25 pounds (the hairstyle and a make-up inclusive) and hinted the fresh faces of modelling to create a portfolio. For purchase of the equipment, Mario is forced to take the credit as he did not have enough resources in a bank. In a meanwhile photographer got additionally income as waiter and in free time was photographing the colleagues. After Testino admits that communication with clients gave him wide experience and excellent knowledge of human psychology.
Therefore the way to international recognition was not the shortest one. Only in the end of 80s, he was able to find his own style during cooperation with Carine Roitfeld.
Testino increasing frequent works with the leading fashionable magazines of New York, Paris, Milan – and most of all, for Vogue. And Mario is appreciated more and more for his true professionalism, keenness to fashion industry and light temper. And it is not sophisticated, the photographer constantly likes to repeat that for him the most important the fact that models felt well on shooting.
He began to dictate trends, yes, thanks to his efforts, on a place of Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista came Stella Tennant and Kate Moss. Mario cultivates an aesthetics of heroin chic and grunge, he opened to the whole world unique Gisele Bundchen!!!
But the real rise in career happens when Testino gets acquainted with the world of advertising shooting. And, it is difficult to believe, but the first celebrity which asked him to be photographed, was Madonna… for Versace ad. That was all he dreamed about.
After that, request came after request from the biggest companies of the world to the most famous celebrities. He became as famous as a faces he has photographed. Mario was the last one who pictured princess Diana and imprinted images became iconic. I can add only #towelseries which is one of my favourite of his projects. После чего, Тестино арендовал небольшое помещение и за 25 фунтов (прическа и макияж включено) предлагает начинающим моделям создавать портфолио. Для покупки оборудования, Марио вынужден был взять в банке кредит, так как своих средств у него не хватало. Также фотографу приходилось подрабатывать официантом, на досуге фотографируя своих коллег.
После Тестино признается, что общение с клиентами дало ему большой опыт и отличные знания человеческой психологии. Таким образом его путь к мировой славе вышел не самым коротким. Свой собственный ему удалось найти только в конце 80-х, когда он стал сотрудничать с Карин Ройтфельд.
Тестино все чаще и чаще работает с ведущими модными журналами Нью-Йорка, Парижа, Милана — и больше всего, всё-таки, для Vogue. А самого Марио всё больше ценят за настоящий профессионализм, чуткость к модной индустрии и легкий нрав. Также он начинает диктовать тенденции, да, благодаря его стараниям, на смену Наоми Кэмпбелл и Линде Евангелисте приходят Стелла Теннант и Кейт Мосс. Марио взращивает эстетику героинового шика и гранжа, именно он открыл всему миру неповторимую Жизель Бундхен!!!
Настоящий подъем в карьере случается, когда Тестино знакомится с миром рекламной съемки. И, трудно поверить, но первой знаменитостью, попросившей, чтобы ее сфотографировали, стала сама Мадонна… для рекламы Versace. Это было все о чем он мечтал.
После чего, запросы посыпались один за другим от крупнейших компаний мира моды до самых известных селебрити. Он стал таким же известным как и лица, которые он фотографировал. Марио был последним, кто запечатлил принцессу Диану, после чего эти изображения стали культовым.

Однажды в Америке один торговый представитель компании собственных родителей и простой американский парень встретились на заправочной станции. Коммерсант предложил красавчику сделать пару его портретов – он увлекался фотографией.
Фотосесия состоялась, она стала рекламой фильма «Американский жиголо» и прославила обоих: и модель, и фотографа. Первого, кстати, звали Ричард Гир, а второго — Герб Ритц.
Впоследствии оказалось, что этот талантливый фотограф обладает какой-то волшебной силой зажигать звезды, словно Маленький Принц.
Еще совершенно неизвестными людьми порог его студии переступили Синди Кроуфорд, Мила Йовович и Аль Пачино.
Теперь критики видят в них те же бессмертные линии, что и в греческих скульптурах. Но Ритцу удавалось увидеть и отснять что-то очень эмоциональное и искренне настоящее.

Shooting took place and became advertising of the movie “American Gigolo” and glorified both: the model and photographer. The first was called, Richard Gere, by the way and the second — Herb Ritts.
Subsequently it turned out that this talented photographer has some magic power to light stars as Little Prince.
Аbsolutely unknown yet people as Cindy Crawford, Milla Jovovich and Al Pacino was crossed by the threshold of his studio.
Now critics see in them the same immortal lines, as in the Greek sculptures. But Ritts managed to see and finish shooting something very emotional and sincerely real.
